Relief plaque with a young woman that weaves. It was unearthed in 1886 during the Acropolis excavations at the north walls in fragments. It was then mended and restored in plaster.
The woman sits on a bed with her feet resting on a footstool. She wears chiton and her head is covered with a kekryphalos. As we know from similar plaques, the spindle was suspended from her right hand while in the left hand she held the distaff. The woman is usually identified with Athena Ergane who taught women the art of yarning and weaving.
All over the surface is retained white slip that served as an undercoat for the final hues. Traces of light-blue and red colour are also preserved. The plaque was made by the same mould as plaque Ακρ. 13054.
